LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Barbara Anderson

It’s been brought to my attention that maybe some have no idea that there are two 6 bedroom homes in Condon that are set up for transient work forces. We have been housing workers for nearly 5 years. The average cost per person with just 5 people is 480$ a month. These rent for $2,400 for 5 persons to $3,000 for 6 persons a month with ALL utilities, fully furnished, linens, cookware and paper products. Garbage and wifi also.

We were happy to host Jessica Lynch and family the first month they were here in a smaller unit until they found a rental they could use their furniture and things in.

One of the first 911 contractors stayed in one of the bigger homes for 4 months. We received positive and very thankful comments. We have hosted road crews, construction crews, windmill contractors, and a variety of others. Please feel free to check out the reviews on the Airbnb website. We would also be more than happy to show anyone interested the homes available for long term work force.

I am struggling to understand why there is a need to build brand new homes, furnish them, and pay all the ongoing expenses for a revolving workforce that already has a option from established businesses. There have even been some that have chosen the hotel when there were more dining choices.

I would think it would be money better spent on city roads, pool, golf course? Things the community uses every day? Or maybe low interest LOANS to some who want to build and expand the rental choices.

Sincerely,

Barbara Anderson, Condon
