March 12th filing deadline for Gilliam primaries

The deadline to file for Gilliam County elections is approaching. Anyone wishing to be a candidate must file with the Gilliam County Clerk by 5 PM on March 12.

Residents will cast their votes for key positions that will shape the county's future. Among the contested positions is that of County Judge – a nonpartisan role with a significant six-year term. The candidates so far are: Cris Patnode, Jim Hassing, and Leah Watkins.

In the nonpartisan race for County Commissioner Position #2, candidates Pat W. Shannon and Grant Wilkins are eyeing a four-year term. For the position of County Assessor, Chet Wilkins is running unopposed.

In the partisan arena, Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) will represent their respective parties. Democrats in Precinct #1 – Arlington have Les Ruark as their candidate, while East Condon and West Condon have no candidates filed. On the Republican side, Precinct #1 in Arlington remains vacant, and East and West Condon have no candidates. Precinct #6 - East Condon has Republican Mike Weimar as a candidate.
