Spray Film Fest brings community together

Old and young alike turned out to see the first Spray Film Fest and the renewed Spray General Store, an art hub in the making

Rosie Day probably didn't think that her students would be leading an arts revival in Spray when she started teaching a photography and videography class last year. But that is what was on full display this past Sunday, October 3rd.

Day, a native of Brighton, England began teaching in Spray last year. In just a year's time students have not only gotten comfortable with being on camera, but also in the technical aspects of using cameras and editing software.

The push to give students opportunities to build technical skills in videography, welding and small engine repair in the Spray School began with former Superintendent Larry Johnson. It also coincided with a push by Spray resident Joni Kabana to transform the old Spray General Store into an arts collaborative.

With a new roof and electrical system, there was much to celebrate at the Spray General Store. Packed into the rear part of the building were over 75 people, all in masks but wearing big smiles.

Spray High School students showcased their videos, and an adoring audience couldn't get enough. With commercials, documentaries, and music videos – there was a solid work put in by the students.

Here's looking forward to more fun times at the General Store and more videos from Ms. Day's students.
