Gordon Ralph Eakin, 79 of Adams, OR. passed away April 26, 2024 peacefully at his home, during his daily happy hour; in the loving company of his wife Peggy Sue, and daughter Chris.
Gordon was born on August 4, 1944 in The Dalles, OR. to parents Ralph and Katherine Eakin. He attended Moro in grade school and graduated from Condon High School, and later attended Oregon State University.
In 1964 Gordon married his best friend and love of his life, Peggy Sue Couture of Fossil, OR. Together, they have four daughters; Tracy, Kelly, Christine, and Becky. In their early years of marriage, they lived in Klamath Falls, OR. Silverton, OR. and Enumclaw, WA. However, the majority of their life was lived in Condon. This is where the girls went to school. In 1986 they moved to Pendleton area, where Chris and Becky graduated from high school.
Gordon was a farmer by profession, like his parents, and grandparents before him. He was most passionate about cattle and horses. He was involved in the Condon Elks Lodge, and a member of the Gilliam County Fair Board. He loved to hunt, fish, and reload ammunition in preparation for one of his most favorite times of the year, which was Hunting Season. He enjoyed the outdoors with his family whether it was impromptu livestock judging, out in the fields checking on cattle, elk camp teaching his grandkids how to play cribbage, or just taking a drive around the area to see what had changed. One thing about Gordon was, he had a sweet tooth and seemed to always have several bags of different candy bars.
In 2004, Gordon suffered an aneurism where he spent his 60th birthday in Portland at the hospital this ended up forcing him into retirement. Peggy continued to work to support them.
In 2014, Gordon & Peggy celebrated their 50th anniversary. August 29, 2024 would have been their 60th anniversary.
He is survived by his Wife, 4 Daughters, several Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, and his Sister Joanne Jaeger.
