GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Administer, plan and direct the County’s public transportation program. Work includes managing the volunteer driver program, fleet of approximately 12 transit vehicles, one part-time dispatcher, and staffing the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund Advisory Committee. This position also manages the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund program and other funding programs. Position requires compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Perform a variety of administrative and/or technical duties. Perform other job-related work as required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED: High school graduate or equivalent with over two years clerical/business knowledge, including but not limited to thorough knowledge of record keeping systems, word processing, spreadsheets and database software; general knowledge of operations, policies, terminology and governing laws of the department or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge; knowledge of producing and working within a budget; grant writing experience or ability to rapidly acquire that knowledge; public relations; possess an appropriate and valid driver license and have an acceptable driving record; be able and willing to attend periodic continuing education opportunities that may require up to one week away from home; and able to meet the physical requirements of the position in order to perform travel and meeting attendance in rural areas.
